Girls’ education is a major problem in most African countries. Although many girls go to elementary school, once they reach secondary school, the retention rate drops. Once puberty is reached girls have many household responsibilities that takes time from their education and they end up leaving school.

· 10,000 girls is an organization that works to both educate girls and teach them entrepreneurship.

¢The education program gives the girls the means to succeed by providing them with a place to study, a time to study, and books and other basic school supplies.

¢The entrepreneurship program teaches girls a craft or trade, business basics, and provides them with a work space to create high quality products.

¢The student volunteers will do various kinds of work with the girls ranging from one on one English tutoring to film/ media courses and computer technology use.
