There are true heroes all around us. The American Heritage dictionary defines "true" as: real, authentic, genuine, faithful, loyal, sincere; and defines "hero" as: persons noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose. There are few people more authentic and genuine than students and no more noble purpose than being of service to others. These student heroes are serving others in their communities and around the world through service projects sponsored by their schools.
TRUE HERO student volunteers are dedicated to both community and national service. They represent our nation’s finest resource in tackling our most challenging problems, including national security, crime, housing, hunger, education, illiteracy, drugs and alcohol, healthcare and the lack of positive role models for our youth.
TRUE HERO volunteers “pay it forward” by volunteering in the service of their communities and country. Each of these volunteers would say that they had a rewarding experience and positively impacted the communities where they served. These volunteers develop teamwork and leadership skills, while gaining an understanding of the social and economic problems that confront our communities, our cities and our third-world neighbors.
Most importantly, TRUE HERO volunteers cultivate a powerful belief that a small team of dedicated heroes can make a true difference in the lives of the people they serve.
TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More
If you are a student volunteer,
THANK YOU for inspiring optimism, gratitude and a call to service in all of us.
